His Satisfying Love
Fill us full every morning with your faithful love so we can rejoice and celebrate our whole life long.
Psalms 90: 14
I grew up seeking the world for what God could only give me. I was looking for a quick fix to my issues and insecurities. We live in a world where we are constantly grabbing at things to satisfy our needs and wants. We run to sex, social media, relationships, food and drugs when we feel unloved and unseen. We believe our successes, our skills, our social status, more money, material possessions, packed schedules, self-help resources, affirmations and applause from people will fix our desperate souls.
That’s what I believed for a long time.
What we are doing is seeking temporary solutions to fill a place reserved only for an eternal God. What the Lord has shown me is that His love and the world's love are entirely different. Understanding that God is the only one who can truly satisfy us begins with knowing His nature and where that places the world.
1. God is Eternal & Self- Existent
“Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God” (Psalms 90: 1-2). There is no beginning or end to God. No one created Him. He exists on His power alone. That’s a STRONG GOD!
Where does this place the world? The world and everything in it was created by The Creator, therefore it's temporary. Everything has a beginning and an end.“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever” (1 John 2:17). We serve an all-powerful and endless God that is greater than the world.
2. God is Self- Sufficient
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else” (Acts 17: 24-25). The beautiful truth is that God has no needs. He is without flaw. He is completely satisfied within Himself.
Where does this place the world? We weren’t created to be a god. We are needy and deficient. God wouldn't give creation the ability to be self-sufficient. That would defeat the purpose of Jesus dying for our sins. This attribute is reserved for God alone. We were created to be fully dependent on a faithful God who is able to exceed our expectations.
A bible study by The Daily Grace Company titled "The Attributes of God" stated that “We look for created things to fill the aching void of our hearts, but they have no power to satisfy us”. God created all things, including us. John 1:3 says, “Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.”
The truth is, we weren't created to feast on temporary pleasures of this world. The world over promises, but underdelivers every time We were created to feast on the eternal pleasures of our Heavenly Father who is able to satisfy.
Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will liberally (in large amounts; generously; abundantly) supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” God is infinitely perfect in all of His attributes, and His love is powerful enough to satisfy every desire. The pleasures of God are so much better and richer than those of this world. Anything else is useless and powerless. “Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy” (Psalms 63: 3,5).
Prayer:
Father, thank you for being who You are. Thank you that there is no one like You. Thank you that your faithful love fills every place in my soul. I repent for every time I run to worldly things to satisfy me and believe that You weren’t capable. Fill every void that's within me. Help me to run to You to satisfy my every need and desire. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
