Made On Purpose!
"How precious are your thoughts about me, oh God.
They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!"
Psalm 139: 17-18
Have you ever gotten home from a beach vacation only to find that half of the beach seemingly returned with you? Everything you unpack seems to carry a reminder of where you came from. I’m talking about the sand! No matter how much you dust yourself off, vacuum out the car, or wash those beach towels (not to mention your hair), there always seems to be more that comes from somewhere!
Now of course we know that the sand that returns with us is nothing compared to what remains on the beach, however, even that little bit is more than we can quantify! You know what is even more than that? God’s thoughts towards you. His loving, caring, precious thoughts about YOU.
When God made you, He meant too!
So much thought went into the details of who you are. From the shape of your nose, to the texture of your hair, even the way your laugh sounds when something is really funny. God handpicked every little detail that makes you, you! Your uniqueness, your quirks, that “thing” that it seems like no one understands but you…ALL INTENTIONAL! You are intentional because God is intentional.
The word intentional is defined as “done on purpose; deliberate”. He made you who you are and how you are, on purpose. You are meaningful to God and He has a specific plan and purpose for your existence.
If He thinks of you this way, why is it so difficult to think of yourself in the same way? For each of us, there are areas of our thoughts, words, or actions towards ourselves that make it clear that we are not fully believing God’s truth about who we are.
It is time that we start renewing our minds and allow our beliefs to line up with God’s truth! Here are some truths that I want you to say out loud:
I am intentional
I am fearfully and wonderfully made
I was created on purpose
I am loved
I am necessary
I have an impact to make
I am forgiven
I am enough
I challenge you, this year, to continue to declare God’s truth out loud and combat the lies that are keeping you from confidently being the YOU that God created you to be!
Prayer:
Dear God, You are such a wonderful and loving father! Thank you for intentionally creating and thinking about us. Forgive us for the times that we have believed things about ourselves that are contrary to your truth. I pray and ask that you will continue to illuminate your truth and confront the lies that we have allowed to settle in our hearts and minds. Help us to think about, speak about, and treat ourselves in ways that are a reflection of the care that you have for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection:
What are some thoughts that you have about yourself that do not line up with what God says about you? Write down those thoughts. Now cross through what you wrote and replace it with God’s truth. Take 1-2 minutes daily to do this.
