“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
“For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and give you the victory! Deuteronomy 20:4
In boxing, a winner is declared when one opponent is incapable of continuing, gets disqualified, or quits. At the end of a match, if both opponents are still standing, a judge than determines the victor.
Your life right now might feel very much like a boxing match. You may be reading this right now feeling like you have nothing left. Feeling like you have been defeated by whatever thing you have been struggling with. Maybe you’ve been hit, and hit hard, by the realities of life or by an unexpected circumstance. You have taken some really tough blows, and have maybe even been knocked down. I want to encourage you at this very moment, to get back up.
If you don’t quit, the fight is not over!
That means you have never actually been defeated. Think about it. True enough, the things that you have been battling with may seem to be winning right now, however, you have not been taken out! Maybe you have stopped fighting, but if you are reading this right now, this is your opportunity to get your guard back up and keep swinging!
“We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield.” Ephesians 33:20
Where will you put your hope? Will you put it in the possibility of defeat and allow your circumstances to determine what you believe the outcome will be? Or will you put your hope in the almighty God, who has promised to shield you, fight for you, and give you victory?
Prayer:
Father God, you are strong, mighty, and victorious! As we look at our circumstances, I pray that we will remember that you are bigger and stronger than anything that we will face. Lord, I pray and ask that you will do what your word says and strengthen us as we place our hope in you. Thank you for fighting for us! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
